Dot NAME Domain Names

Started in 2001, the Dot NAME generic Top-Level Domain is the single TLD meant for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are famous by. Initially, just third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to secure john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already acquired third-level domains remained operational.
