Password Protected Directories
Learn more about password-protected directories and what they bring to your website.
A password-protected directory is a folder which cannot be accessed unless the correct login details are provided. This may be an entire website or just a single page which is located in a subfolder. If you attempt to open such a directory, you'll see a web browser pop-up in which you will need to input a username as well as a password. In case you type in the appropriate ones, you will be able to continue surfing around the content without having to do anything extra. In case the login details aren't accurate, however, you will see a note that you are not permitted to look at the content. In case this option is activated, you will not be able to open a file even when you have a direct link. The function is very handy if you'd like to prohibit the access to some content or if you are creating a site and you do not want visitors to be able to access it before it is ready.
Password Protected Directories in Cloud Hosting
Setting up a password-protected area shall take merely a couple of clicks and a few seconds when you host your Internet sites within a cloud hosting account with our company. You will not have to do anything complicated - you will need to select a domain/subdomain, to pick which folder under it should be protected, and then to type the login name and password that'll be used to access that folder. In case a number of individuals require their own login credentials, there will not be a problem to set up a variety of different usernames with access to the very same folder. All secured folders shall appear with a padlock icon in the File Manager section, so you will always know where this option is activated. If you would like to deactivate the security feature for any folder, you can disable it from the very same section of the Control Panel where you have enabled it.
