Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol used to encrypt the information exchanged between a hosting server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to protect the info which visitors submit on your website - a login page, a payment page if you run an Internet store, etc. Any information they enter in any box on the website shall be submitted safely to the server, so their login or payment information shall be protected from being accessed by unauthorized people. In general, an SSL certificate requires a dedicated IP address to be set up, which suggests the overall cost for your online presence will be higher. While this might not exactly be a problem for a larger enterprise, it may matter for a non-profit organization or a small web store which doesn't generate big revenue if additional money should be spent. This is the key reason why we've taken advantage of an extension referred to as Server Name Indication (SNI) and we have made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Cloud Hosting

Given that we offer SSL certificates with our cloud hosting packages, you can easily secure your Internet site and use a shared IP address with just several mouse clicks. The option shall be available during the order process, so if you have a dedicated IP, you'll be able to use it, but if you don't have one and you don't want to pay for this kind of a service, you can use the shared IP, which has been configured particularly for SSLs. The certificate will work in the same exact way as if it had a dedicated IP and the sole difference shall be that if someone tries to open the IP address as a URL, they will not see your site. As our system has an auto-configuration option, the SSL shall be installed automatically the instant it's issued, so you shall not have to do anything on your end after you approve it. That way, you'll be able to have a secure and reliable Internet site without having to spend more money for that.
